Latter G1 characters?

What is everyone's opinion about the latter G1 characters, mainly from
after the Movie? That is to say, the Technobots/Terrorcons, the various
-Masters, the Pretenders, and so on. So far at least the Dreamwave
comics seem to have all but ignored them, only giving them very small
cameo appearances, where they don't even get to use their gimmicks.
So I've started to think the majority of their target audience doesn't
care for these characters, or don't even know they exist. What are your
ideas?

That it's hard to form much of an idea about any of them since we
didn't see enough of them to form ideas of personalities.

The Terrorcons and Predacons were 'just there," rather than introduced
like the Constructicons, Combaticons and Stunticons were. Even though
we saw the Technobots created, we saw little that was memorable about
their individual personalities.

The later G1 char I'm most fond of is Thunderwing, due entirely to
Simon Furman's brilliant characterization in Matrix Quest. In fact,
his entire team--Spinister, Needlenose, Ruckus, Windsweeper--mean more
to me thanks to Matrix Quest.

From what I heard, Dreamwave is taking each year of toys as a separate
"team" or "era" in their storyline. For example, currently, the
Dreamwave comics have focused almost entirely on Season 1 and 2 chars
in their first two years of making comics. However, in Issue #0 we
saw Galvatron and Wreck Gar, and in War and Peace we saw Scourge,
Arcee, Hot Rod, Springer and Ultra Magnus. I suspect more Year 3 toy
characters will be appearing in the comics before too long, and
gradually the story will evolve to introduce Headmasters,
Powermasters, Pretenders, etc. Mindwipe and Bugly and Bludgeon,
pre-Pretender, were in War Within: The Dark Ages. Dreamwave is also
more sparing in their use of characters since they don't have a Hasbro
mandate to introduce whole teams of toys in one issue/episode.

The notable exception is Micromasters, who are the stars of their own
miniseries.

I like a lot of them. Though I don't care for a lot of the characterisation
from the cartoon, many of the later characters got a good showing in the
comic continuity (UK). Springer as leader of the Wreckers was great, and
Magnus, as written by Furman, is my all-time favourite TF. As for Pretenders
et al... none of them really seemed to HAVE much character, so its hard to
say whether I liked them. The concepts themselves...um, ok I guess. Not
adverse to them by any means, as many fans are - but I don't feel
particularly passionate about any of them either.
